Fugitive Bodies

April 6, 2011

‘Fugitive sheets’, a literal translation from the German ‘fliegende Blätter’, were widely published throughout Europe from the mid-16th to the late-17th century. The video here is from a Duke Library Exhibition of anatomical flap-books ‘Animated Anatomies’, curated by Valeria Finucci and Maurizio Rippa-Bonati with the assistance of Rachel Ingold and Meg Brown. Beautiful slideshow here, for the video is quite lengthy.
